Chamber Orchestra The Thomas Pullen Middle School orchestral program is divided into two performing groups: The Concert Orchestra—which is the intermediate ensemble, and the Chamber Orchestra—which is the advanced ensemble sharing with us today. Classes meet every other day for 1½ hours. In addition to rehearsing for performances the students also study music theory and work on Musicianship Tests that include playing scales, reporting on composers in history, writing about musical performances they have heard and putting together charts and posters showing correct posture and positions. Orchestra performances include winter concerts, Prince George's County Festivals, a spring music trip and a spring concert. In addition, the students may choose to perform at the County Solo/Ensemble Festival and the State Solo/Ensemble Festival. In the Spring of 2007, the Chamber orchestra earned a Superior rating at the County Festival, and an Excellent rating at the Maryland State Orchestra Festival and at the Disney Festival in Orlando Florida. to our Pastor and Lady Liz’s 30th Anniversary celebration would like to
thank the Metropolitan Baptist Church family and staff for your support,
assistance, participation, prayers and encouragement of our efforts and
events. It was our goal to celebrate and appreciate our beloved First
Family during the month of October and to have you join with us in
honoring Pastor Hicks and Lady Liz. It was a remarkable celebration of
“Pastor and People” that truly honored their many years of service and
sacrifice to our church. We would also like to thank Pastor Hicks for
giving us this opportunity to serve and to use our time, gifts and
talents to celebrate this important milestone in our church's history

Our Vision
Metropolitan is a vibrant,
multicultural congregation whose vision is as broad as the grace of
God. We are a church in transition, building on the strength of our
historic past while claiming the new location for ministry that God
has given to us. We are developing a ministry to families with a
continuing emphasis on the social dimensions of the gospel. Come
grow with us as we seek to Become the Kingdom of God on earth.
Our Mission
The mission of the Metropolitan
Baptist Church ministries is to bring persons into a saving and
redemptive relationship as Disciples of Jesus Christ. We are a
Spiritual body whose only foundation is the Word of God. We fulfill
our ministry as we proclaim and teach, pray and worship, forgive and
reconcile. As we live by Christ's example, we empower others to
carry out the commands of God. We seek only to be God's servants as
agents of healing and wholeness in a wounded and fragmented world.
