Salvation 101
This class is designed to help new members understand the fundamentals of the
salvation process, its meaning and purpose for our lives as Christians. New
Members will look at the process of salvation (conviction, repentance,
confession, conversion, regeneration, justification, sanctification and
glorification) and the scriptural basis for practical application in their daily
lives.
The Spiritual Disciplines
This class is designed to introduce the new member to the spiritual disciplines
of prayer, fasting, bible study and worship. The class will further clarify the
need for a personal relationship with God and how one might mature in their
faith by studying these spiritual disciplines.
MBC Church History and Polity
This class is designed to inform the new member about the rich heritage of the
Metropolitan Baptist Church and its beliefs, practices and polity. The class
will also overview the church covenant and the functions of the church body.
Building the Church from Inside Out
The class will study the principles of Christian Stewardship and Tithing. This
class is also designed to share the Pastor’s vision of the Metropolitan Baptist
Church ministry and how new members can be active partakers of this vision.
Family and Fellowship
This is a ministry session where new members are given the opportunity to learn
more about one another; receive a tour of the church facilities and meet
ministry leaders from the various Metropolitan Ministries. There will also be a
bible study lesson on principles for Christian fellowship and growth.
Dessert with Pastor Hicks
New members will talk with Pastor Hicks and learn about his ministry experience
in a Q&A session.
Pre-Baptism Class
At Metropolitan, all new members are required to attend the pre-Baptism class.
Christian baptism symbolizes, the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus
Christ. This class reviews the biblical foundation and mandate for
water-baptism.
Baptism / Right Hand of Fellowship
After completing all the required New Disciples Orientation Classes, the new
member will be given the right hand of fellowship. The right hand of fellowship
is a church-wide greeting to the new member by the church body. After the
sermon, Pastor Hicks, the official family and church body will welcome the new
members and they will receive their certificate of completion.
Pressing Toward The Mark
Each new member is enrolled in the “Pressing Towards the Mark” Sunday School
class. New members are required to complete six of these classes before
transitioning into another Sunday School class. The Sunday School lesson is
studied church-wide and a lesson book will be provided for each person attending
the class.
