Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.  2 Corinthians 1:3-4.

The Bereavement Ministry has a heart for the hurting! We represent Christ’s caring for people – through people. The Ministry is composed of laypeople, called partners, who provide one-on-one Christian care to people in and around our community grieving the death of a loved one for one year following the loss. We are compassionate individuals who reach out in person, by telephone, email, text, or other resources available, when you suffer loss, grief, and encounter other challenges that throw your life into a tailspin.

Partners are not counselors; we are not “know it alls.” We do not try to fix matters. We simply partner with you to provide loving encouragement, care, and support when you need it most. We provide a listening ear, words of encouragement, and a shoulder to cry on as you navigate through your storms. The Bereavement Ministry meets by telephone conference call the second Thursday of each month between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The conference call # is 1-866-679-4594, access code 7224335. You are welcome to join in serving with us anytime.

Few people can understand the deep hurt and pain, the confusion, the sense of isolation, and the questions that abound after the loss of a loved one. This is where GriefShare at Metropolitan comes in. GriefShare at Metropolitan is a Christ-centered supportive environment for people who are grieving. We provide a venue for healing. GriefShare is open to anyone who has lost a spouse, family member, or friend. We help you face challenges and move toward establishing a “new normal” life following the loss. GriefShare provides 13 consecutive weeks to reflect, mediate, and engage in dialogue in moving forward. Each weekly session is composed of three essential components:

  • Video seminars led by experts.
  • Support group discussion facilitated by persons who have been where you are.
  • Personal study and reflection using the required workbook, Your Journey From Mourning to Joy, at a cost of $15.00.

Please check the Bereavement Ministry calendar, the GriefShare website, or contact revdorothydavis@gmail.com for upcoming GriefShare sessions. We welcome you with open arms.
